We would like you to write a short (3-4 paragraphs) report about our trip to the London Museum of Water and Steam. You could include:
·         The Water Cycle workshop
·         Puzzling properties workshop
·         Splash zone
·         Waterworks gallery
·         Materials trial

Please try to focus on what you found out, rather than who you sat next to or what you had for lunch!

  1. London Museum Of Water & Steam…

    The Water Cycle Workshop:

The water cycle workshop was fun because we had two plates, one pare of scissors, a pin that you could bend and some crayons. 1. First, we placed the two plates on top of each other. 2. Then, we made a bent rectangle shape and cut it out. 3. After, we wrote the four stages of the water cycle. 4. After that, we drew a diagram of the water cycle and I think everyone’s drawings where all good I wouldn’t be able to chose which one was the best!

    SPLASH ZONE!!!

The splash zone was the first or second favourite part about the museum and I am just about to tell you why…………… because you got to play in the water and there where about 3 or 4 places you could play in. The first one I saw was a mini bathtub with really cold, freezing water and Jacob’s mum didn’t let him play because it was too cold. The second one I saw was full of tubes and I didn’t like it really. The third one I saw was massive and some of it was slightly broken/didn’t work out properly.

    Waterworks gallery:

The waterworks gallery was fun, scary and nervous because Mr. Marshall asked some questions Thinu & Emil found the first question for their groups and then Hamza found the second for OUR GROUP! And those groups one a dojo point and Amelia had thirty! People found a tunnel and there was a rat or mouse there Hayan said that it moved. It was fun because there where machines that you could ‘work’ and at the same time there were moving.

  3. Firstly when I came in I thought that we are going to learn about the water cycle and how they work and that did happen. Our first activity was to write down what the three states of matter do, and I wrote this
    SOLID
solid is a hard sort of a material that it is almost unbreakable. The little particles from the solid are so stuck they can't move around and they will not try to escape from there material. Some solid like metal can vibrate because the sound of your footsteps could be loud but they could still vibrate it to the metal.

    LIQUID
liquid can wobble around because the little particles from the liquid are so heated up they move around. Some water can be heated by the sun and they water gets smaller and smaller.

    GAS
Some gas can be dangerous like the smoke coming from a fire. The little particles for the gas is that they always try to escape from there container or a place that has trapped them inside.
From that I learnt about the little particles that gases move around and liquid wobbling around and solid staying still.

  4. The Water Cycle Workshop.
In the water cycle workshop I cut a small hole on the edge of one paper plate. Then with the other plate I wrote the four instructions that happen in the water cycle. I pinned them together with a golden pin and I had a water cycle plate wheel.
    Puzzling Properties Workshop
In this workshop I guessed some easy materials and had to guess what category they went in. Then I played a game with Yuvika and guessed what cards she had using scientific vocabulary.
    Splash Zone
We went outside to this EPIC water and ice factory. Me, Tapaswini and Prachi had to turn a swirly whirly wheel and Asma was pulling a string to let all the water flow and go round again. The ice broke so easily as it was thin ice.
    Materials Trail and Waterworks Gallery
In the materials trail, I went with Yuvika to find some objects using a sheet when I went through some big doors I saw a massive room filled with water it was about 1000 feet deep. It had a metal gate round so it was okay. In the waterworks gallery I had to find some answers to some questions. I found one answer it was if I had choose to get clean water from a well or dirty water from the factory. I chose dirty water from a factory because it was keeping my job and the water from the well would be harder to get.
I very much liked the LONDON MUSEUM OF WATER & STEAM because it was fun and interesting.

  5. KEW STEAM MUSUM

The Splash Zone was the best, 51% of the class where enjoying it. First there was the area where you block the path so the water does not go through and then the water had risen up so high that it had flooded the floor. The second part was the ice maker were all the ice was made when I kept my hand inside it my hand froze. Just because of that trip I could do the ice challenge.

The Water works gallery was so cool and we got to see that a lonely gold fish was stuck in smelly water. We also saw how it was to work in a steam area and we even tried it. The part where we made the water rise to make the duck go higher was the hardest.

The staffs were called Rebecca and Tom they helped us a lot and they even did dangerous activities (that were fun). It was the best trip ever and I had to choose between 50 trips in my whole entire school life.
The people over there are processional artists or engineers . they must of trained 9times a week. They must of trained every machine so they always work.

  6. On Wednesday the 30th of November 2016 my class went to the museum of water and steam. First we wrote about solids, liquids and gases. Then on another page we filled in a worksheet about solids liquids and gases.

After we went into a room and, saw how evaporation occurred. Then we had 2 plates and in one of them we cut a small rectangle at the top. After that on each of the sides we wrote the words evaporation condensation collection and precipitation (On the other plate). After that we got to draw and colour the water cycle on the other plate. After that we made a hole in the 2 plates with a pencil. Then put a split in it to join them together and when you twisted it you could see the order of the water cycle.

After lunch we went on the materials trail where we had to find the material around the museum and write a little bit about it.

After we went into the splash zone and played with all of the water things around it. I had to wear my gloves because the water was so cold that some was even ice.

Finally we went to the water works gallery where we discovered how dirty the river Thames was. We had a sheet that had questions that we had to answer

  7. I found four step of the water cycle which are:
    Precipitation, evapouration, collection and condensation.

Puzzling properties were fun for everyone, we had to find which one is solid, liquid and gas. And we learned a lot.

  8. however i really liked the school trip the machines was so complecated. I liked the part when we gotta eat and i liked the part when we got to put our hands in a freezing ice water, well i was just kidding i liked the part when we gotta find informations on the wall and i found one that counts two dojo points and my friend Kiavy even found some informations on the wall so we got four dojos points all together and I was really impressed.

So that day there was a lady and a man they worked for the water and steam museam the man was showing us some objects so we had to guess what it is solid, liquid and gas. however in the water place i got to figure a jigsaw out of plastic bricks

When we were on our journey to the Museum I was thrilled and overjoyed. When we got there I stared with amazement at all of the facts and workshops. My favourite bit was the Waterworks Gallery because I was amazed with all the fantastic information that was there. My worst part in the Waterworks Gallery was the dead rat in the tunnel but aside that I loved it!!!!! I also learnt about the different types of engine they used in the Victorian time and how they worked.

The worst part was the Puzzling Properties Workshop because by the name of the workshop it was quite puzzling and confusing. The hardest challenge was the shaving cream and toothpaste. It turns out that the toothpaste and shaving cream are semi solids ( solid with less density ).

When we did the water cycle workshop I enjoyed assembling and colouring the plates. A thing I learnt is that precipitation is the start of the process, before I thought it evaporation that started the process of the water cycle.

On the Materials Trial me and my partner Sienna discovered a range of items that the builders used in the Victorian time. They mostly used metal which I can understand because metal is the strongest material to build out of. I also learnt that some of the engine pumps are made out of wood which would be a cheaper building material.

The Splash Zone was quite interesting and creative. There were very creative ways that you could transport the water to different places. I also learnt how Victorian sewer workers used to do the water transport.

  10. I liked the trip!My favirout time ws the puzzle because we made our own water cycle.when we went out i was kind of shocked the was ice and i touched it then my hands were hurting.we were talking about precipitation collection and condensation. When we whent to the looking part there was a suir but not real the was a fake rat ad evry one got scared. After we went to find some things and we had a list.

The man called david working in the water and steam muesem showed ussome thing and we hat to say is it a solid, liquid or gas. When we went to the lady we learnt abot words then we made a water cycle and i needed a ittle bit of help.

Finaly we went to a little pond and we saw a koi fish and i thought how did it get there and hayan jasim said it is nemo i ejoyed the trip i can wait to the next one.

  12. School Trip:

As I see it,Wednesday 30th November my whole class went on a school trip to London Museum of Water and Steam.

Firstly,We put all our bags some where in the Museum and sat on the carpet and with our partners we were writing about solid, liquid and gas.On the other page we were filing how it felt and with our group or partner we have to write about how it felt that is what we have to write about in the chart or clip boared.

  14. LONDON MUSEUM OF WATER AND STEEL

It was really fun at the museum, because we learnt lots of stuff about gas and water. We also learnt about tunnels too.
There was also a part when we discovered a bit more about the three states of matter which are solid, liquid and gas.

My favourite things were when we were learning about the water cycle and when we went to the splash zone.
We learnt that water can't be made, but it can only be recycled.

We also went into another room which I think was The Waterworks Gallery. It was cool in there because there was a lot of water underneath the floor and we even spotted a Koi fish !. There were flaps that when you lift them underneath you will find facts.

There was another part that I liked very much. You had to spot the 4 cats that liked living there. I only saw one when we came into the museum.
    It was really fun!

  15. Splash Zone

I liked the Splash Zone the best because twirl and had to push. I also liked when played a game that there red plastic cards and we had to block water from going away.

    The water cycle workshop

I liked the water cycle workshop because we all didn't know the words in the water cycle so Rebecca. After we learnt it we start
ed to draw our water cycle picture after drawed it we started to colour but it didn't work but one of my friend coloured and it did work it was Yuvika.

  16. London Museum of Water & Steam

When I came from School to the Museum, we went but train. I was in Rishi's group but partner with Hassan.

When we got there we met 2 people called Rebecca and David. They were telling us what to do like the water cycle, puzzling properties, splash zone, waterworks gallery and materials trial. I liked the materials trial because there was a rubber duck and we had to get it up to the top by pushing water up and up

Me and Hassan had lots of fun at the Water and Steam Museum. On the splash zone, we had to fix all the water without getting it inside the drain. The water cycle we made a plate of the water cycle. The 4 main parts of the water cycle is evaporation, condensation, collection and precipitation.

The waterworks gallery was not really fun because me and Hassan found it hard but not extremely hard but I had lots of fun at the Kew Steam Museum.

  17. Our school trip to the London water museum of water and steam

On Wednesday at the last day of November witch is the 30th we went on our first school trip in year four and it was called: The London museum of water and steam. We were put into groups and in my group there was: Jacob's mum , Jacob , Jasmin , Asma , Hansa , Thinu , Emil and me. We had to travel by train so we walked to the train station in our groups and we went in the train and saw other trains to. After ten minutes in the train we got to the museum and we met two people called David and Rebecca and they first helped us put our bags away and some of us went to the toilet. David and Rebecca told us that the museum was built in 1838 and Rebecca said the machines in the museum were made in the Victorian time. They also told us that the machines in the museum were powered by steam. Rebecca said that the museum was built because the museum's machines made clean water so that we don't have to drink people's loo or poo.

David and Rebecca were splitting the other class and my class and my class went with David first. The all activities were called:The water cycle workshop , puzzling propoties , splash zone , waterworks gallery and materials trial. First David teached us about solid , liquid and gas and David showed us with a kettle how condensation works. We had to work in partners and I couldn't find a partner so I had to work with Kaivy. David showed us items and in our partners we had to right down if the items were solid , liquid or gas. Then we went with Rebecca to make a plate showing the steps of rain which was first :precipitation witch is another word for rain then it is collection then evaporation then condensation. After we made our plates we were allowed to decorate our plates with drawing precipitation then we coloured in.

A little bit later we had our lunch and after we had our lunch we went with David to the splash zone , it was really fun!!! The splash zone was outside and the ice water and the floating water had very freezing water and some of my class mates touched the freezing water and they kept on saying they can't feel their hands but when I touched the other ones water it wasn't really cold. I saw some of my class mates trying to brake the ice and it was easy because the ice was thin. Then we went somewhere to find answers to the questions and my group found the first answer so my group could get a dojo points and we also saw cool machines called: Chain and rag pump , Bucket pump , force pump and centrifugal pump . Nils spotted a spider in the Bucket pump. Then we had to find the things in our groups and we had to tick on the paper if we found the thing.

Finally we walked to the train station in our groups and we went back to school and some groups got dojo points also my group. My favourite part was everything and everything was the same fun!
