Please write in your reading diary when you have read. You will have been allocated a Bug Club book to read at home, which will be different to the one that you are reading in school. Check with your teacher if you are not sure which one is which. Don’t forget to answer the ‘bugs’- look out for them on each page! Please don’t “close” the book until all the bugs have been answered.

Maths (20mins):
Our topic this week addition and subtraction especially looking at two step word problems. Maths work will be posted on Mathletics, if you have any problems accessing this work please speak to the teacher for a paper copy.

Please also practise your times tables. This week I need to practise my ___ x tables.

Blog:
For our work next week we will be looking at the book ‘Flotsam’. In the story some mysterious photographs are found by a boy on the beach. There are lots of unusual pictures of creatures underwater such as mechanical fish, an octopus sitting on a sofa and a turtle with a whole city on its back. As part of our story writing next week, we will focus on using expanded noun phrases with a preposition. For your homework, imagine or draw your own underwater scene and then write a paragraph on the blog describing what’s in the scene that you have created. Remember to use expanded noun phrases. Choose your adjectives carefully-try to use some that nobody else will use!
Minimum 100 words.

  1. Once there was a boy named Lincoln enjoying his day on the beach. He found a little crab sitting next to him. So, he got out his magnifying glass and took a closer look. But suddenly, a huge wave came to shore. He found a little camera with a small yellow film inside. So he took it to a shop and they got the pictures printed out. He looked through the pictures and saw turtles with a town on its back, starfish the size of dinosaurs and robot clown fish! He would make a film so he did he took some pictures of him self. Then, he throwed the camera back in the sea.

  2. The Beautiful Sea

It has a cute, peaceful, lovely turtle walking on the sea bed. The sea has magnificent, weird, blue plants on the hills. It has millions of small, orange, beautiful gold fish swimming in the sea. The sea has a sandy, wet, soft bed. It has green, small, round plant similar to spinach and cucumber . It has hundreds of dolphin sharks swimming in the blue sea. It has thousands grey, small, hard rocks. The sea has colourful, gleaming, lovely shells. The sea has blue, dark, fresh water. It has a gigantic, big, orange octopus swimming in the sea.

  3. The Junk Fish
The blue and orange/Junk Fish is really smelly, disgusting, dangerous and ugly. It also has lots and LOTS! Of junk on it. Here are some examples (a squished Coke cola can , a rotten dead fish, a mouldy plastic water bottle , an old delicate diamond ring and some harmless colourful fish ).This part of the story is when a girl threw a camera into the sea then it took a LONG journey to go to another part of a country, island or continent. This is one of the picture it took .

  4. Deep down in the sea, live many wonderful and mysterious creatures such as eels, mermaids, turtles, jelly fish, octopuses and sharks. I can see a huge, old, magnificent turtle that has an entire city on its back. Many tiny sea creatures such as krill or plankton can live there. The city on the turtle’s back is beautiful. The weather is murky and very dark. Next to the turtle is a octopus that is extra ordinary because it has 9 wavy, curly, long tentacles. Haven’t you noticed octopuses normally have 8 tentacles? Last but not least, a mermaid. An extraordinary mermaid has four arms. Interestingly, all the four arms have a different skin colour.

  5. Merdaile.
Deep down in the blue seas there was a city called Merdaile. It was a home to merpups and meow- maids. Merpups had puppies' faces and meow maids had cat faces.
They both had sparkly, slimy, smooth mermaid tails .They lived in glistening, crystal clear palaces surrounded by sea shells.
The city had a colossal, gleaming ,shiny rainbow stream. You could catch multicoloured candyfloss. There were also sparkly, steep , swirly mines with wooden train tracks.
In the mines the mermaids dug for shiny jewels. In merdaile no lanterns were aloud except for sea lanterns. Once a year Merpups and Meow - maids held Merlimpics and Marlipmpics which were sport events. Marlipmpics were organised for disabled creatures. The main sports played were oniee balls and merdaile sing swim .In merdaile no lanterns are aloud except for sea lanterns...

  6. Avish

In my scene I’ve got mushy, green, wet seaweed and a sea bed as smooth as a baby’s butt. But there’s a gruesome , slow, bumpy turtle in its shell on the bed of the sea and little blue air bubbles floating around like hover boards. There are rocks as big as boulders and a rock shaped like a hand with hairy, dirty, smelly coral growing on it. Beautiful flowers growing deep down in the spooky, dark, blue sea. The bed the sea is as yellow as a desert and a starfish as pink as a pig and the colour pink.

  7. This is a my imaginary story about seafloor which is full of different living things. There are colourful fish , scary crabs with a sharp scissors and a massive turtles. In a seafloor you could see lots unusual things , if you just keep your eyes wide open. Sharks and other beasts deep in the darkness with their huge sharp teeth. Just saw unexpectedly a football fish fighting with lantern fish....... ohhh better if I look somewhere else!

Imagine that when you just could breath under the water without thinking about it at all. Just swimming around, and see breathtaking scenes. You could enjoy the warm water, nice sunshine and exciting things what are happening there. Pure nature and oceanlife in it’s best!

And you could swim through the underwater lagoons right beside the turtles. And play some catch with sharks maybe, if you’re aware of the risks of that game. You maybe could find a treasure on the ocean floor. A pirate ship with a full of gold and stuff. And you could hunt for a really nice and big pearl, and when you’ll find it, you just rise to the surface and bring these objects to your friends.

And then you wake up , and realize that this all were just a dream… Puffff… welcome to the reality, boooy , haha!
