Literacy (20mins):
We are still studying the myth of Brave Roland
as part of our literacy this term.
In the story Brave Roland travels to Elfland
but where has he come from? What is the setting of the story?
On the blog this week we would like you to describe
the setting of the story.
What is this land like that is ruled over by
the Queen with Lady Ellen and Brave Roland and his brothers. There are a few
clues but much of it will be left to your imagination.

Brave Roland has come from the queen’s Palace. The story is set in the front garden when lady Ellen and the two brothers are playing ball. And then lady Ellen goes missing while trying to find the ball.
ReplyDeleteThis land is a mysterious place ruled by the Queen. Brave Roland is the hero (you can tell by his name Brave Roland). Lady Ellen’s two brothers went to search for her and the missing ball. As Brave Roland goes to the queens palace to ask and search for lady Ellen.
Brave Roland’s kingdom is a phenomenal place to be in it’s a place full of wonder and adventure. The courtyard is a whopping size of 70m long and 35m wide and the castle is almost as big a Blue Whale and the villagers live in huts 5-9 meters in area.

ReplyDeleteThe background was a church which had a ball on top of it which Lady Ellen threw on top of it.
The land looked sunny with trees which bright green leaves on them. The ground had a path with rubble on it, and the sides had bushes covered with flowers.
Brave Roland at the queen’s/Mum’s palace: A bright wallpaper with scented flowers printed on it. A golden throne in the centre of the room with red cushions and studded diamonds on the headrest. Marble floors cold to the touch. Ceiling had paintings of the queen, daughter and sons having fun.
Brave Roland on the way to Chief Warlock’s cottage: The cottage looked dark and misty. It looked like Chief Warlock was bad and mysterious but was not. The shrubbery was trodden on and not looked after. They wilted and looked brown and dead.
Brave Roland in the Elf King’s Palace: It looked grey, dull and creepy like there was a ghost haunting it. Parts of the palace was broken and stones were on the floor. The inside looked just as bad with cobwebs and dust everywhere. The curtains had come off its rails, and mice were scurrying all over the place.
Lady Ellen, Brave Roland and the two brothers walking back home: At first, in the Elf Land’s forest it was dark and wet. The plants were mouldy and if you tried to look for food and found some you would be poisoned to death. When they got to the normal forest it was brighter and luxurious. The plant and food were blooming and delicious.

ReplyDeleteBrave Roland, Lady Ellen and the two brothers went out of the palace and started playing with a ball in the garden. Then the ball goes missing and Lady Ellen goes to grab the ball and Lady Ellen disapears. Brave Roland comes from the Palace.
The land is weird which is ruled by the Queen. Brave Roland and Lady Ellen's two brothers searched for the missing ball and Lady Ellen as Brave Roland goes to the Palace to ask the Queen to search for Lady Ellen and the missing ball.
Thick oak doors with sharp iron long pointy spikes concealed the magnificent rooms of the castle. Murky, deep water surrounds the colossal castle and unsteady, rickety, bridge which has crocodiles that can attack you from behind by the look on their faces. Shiny golden forts that protecting the gigantic castle. The Colossal castle has lots of crystal designs made in it .

ReplyDeleteBrave Roland’s town/country is called “Evergreen Land”. It is always very sunny. The grass is lush green and the skies are bright blue. The weather is warm and pleasant through-out the year. The meadows are full of flowers. The blossom on the trees makes the land colourful and beautiful. The bushes are all evergreen. The animals graze in the grass. Interestingly, some of the trees are pink. Most of the trees are shaped in hearts. The pavements are striped and nothing is black or grey. The sky is glittery. As far as you can see the sky is endless. At night time the sky turns dark pink. You can see jets and their long tails of water vapour. If you are on the fields you can see the sky meet the earth. The people in the Evergreen land love animal and nature. They treat each other with love and respect. They dwell in houses which are shaped like castles. There is happiness and peace everywhere.

People are working hard everyday and Brave Roland lives in a palace because he is the Queens Son. the town is ruled by the Queen, Brave Roland and his two brothers and Lady Ellen his sister and all of them are one small family
Brave Roland comes from the town called lucky land.In lucky land there are green trees and everyone is very lucky.Brave Roland lives in a 3 billion pound Palace because his mum is the queen.Brave Roland also lives with his two brothers and his sister called lady Ellen. In his Palace they have diamonds,gold,ruby and sapphire all over the walls of the Palace.They also have a very special room with pictures of all the previous Queens. In their gardens they have lots and lots of four leaf clovers,which is said to be extremely lucky. Throughout Luckyland Butterfli9are everywhere, again this is for good luck !

Brave Roland came to Elf land from the palace where he lives. He went there to save lady Ellen and the 2 brothers. The setting of the story starts next to a church were they all play ball. Next the setting is in the palace were Brave Roland asks for permission to go out and find lady Ellen and the 2 brothers. After that the setting is in the forest were he goes for clues to the chief Warlock. Next the setting is in Elf land where he goes to save lady Ellen and the 2 brothers. Finally the setting is in the palace where he gets congratulations from the queen for saving lady Ellen and the 2 brothers.

In everland people work very hard and Brave Rolan sometimes comes
to visit those people who are at work and loves
to help them,but sometimes Brave Roland has some wor to do.
In everland it is very sunny outside and in everland
the grass is always cutted when it is about to get dried
and also everland people water the grass and plants and take good
care of everything.
Everland people also love taking care of them selfs a lot more
than anyone els.
