Year 4 Homework
Date set: 24.3.17
Date Due in: 30.3.17
Reading (every day)
Please write in your reading diary when you have read. You will have been allocated a Bug Club book to read at home, which will be different to the one that you are reading in school. Check with your teacher if you are not sure which one is which. Don’t forget to answer the ‘bugs’- look out for them on each page! Please don’t “close” the book until all the bugs have been answered.

Maths (20mins):
Our topic this week is mental methods of multiplication and place value. Maths work will be posted on Mathletics. If you have any problems accessing this work please speak to the teacher for a paper copy.

Please also practise your times tables. This week I need to practise my ___ x tables.

Literacy:
This week we have continued with our unit of adventure stories. We have learnt an extract from Harry Potter called Harry Potter and the Mountain Troll.  For your homework this week, we would like you to orally tell your parents or carers an adventure story, based on the format that we have learnt.
1.      Introduce your Characters/Heroes. Introduce the setting. Introduce your Beast/Troll. How does your hero learn about it?
2.      Your hero meets the Beast or troll. Introduce a friend who needs saving. What obstacle must the heroes overcome?
3.       Climax: Your characters are in danger. What is your beast/troll doing to put the characters in danger?
4.       Resolution. Your heroes defeat the beast or troll. How do they do it?
5.      Where next? Is your character’s work complete? What happens next?

Once you have told your story to a parent or carer, please ask them to complete the form at the bottom of the page and return it to school.
